UGM Students Community Services Hold Rao Rayo Cultural Festival with Local Community on Morotai Island

Universitas Gadjah Mada Students Community Services (KKN) team, Kita Morotai, successfully held the 2026 Rao Rayo Festival in Posi-Posi Rao Village, Rao Island District, Morotai Island Regency, North Maluku, on Thursday, February 2, 2026. This annual festival, themed “Celebrating Coastal Cultural Traditions,” served as a space for celebrating coastal culture while strengthening local identity. The event involved five villages, namely Posi-Posi Rao, Saminyamau, Leo-Leo, Aru Burung, and Lou Madoro. The series of events was centered in the village port area, which was transformed into an open cultural stage. Kledung Village is one of the villages located in Bandar Subdistrict, Pacitan Regency, East Java, with a mountainous landscape that has high potential for agriculture and plantations. One of the existing potentials is coffee plants. The favorable geographical conditions, with highlands and sufficient rainfall, indicate that Kledung Village has great potential for developing coffee as a commodity. Strengthening Community Resilience, UGM Students Community Services Raise Awareness Among Morotai Women About the Threat of Gender-Based Violence

Violence against women and children was a hidden wound because it is often considered a “domestic matter” that others should not interfere with. This mindset must be corrected, as violence is everyone’s concern. This was because women also have a significant influence on the progress and development of a region. The National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) recorded 339,782 of the total complaints to Komnas Perempuan as gender-based violence (GBV) throughout 2024, 3,442 of which were reported to Komnas Perempuan. Violence in the personal sphere still dominates GBV case reports, accounting for 99% or 336,804 cases, including Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV). Selengkapnya
