UGM Students Community Services and students of SDN 6 Karimunjawa Released Turtles in Amor Beach

That morning, around 9:30 a.m., dozens of students of SDN 6 Karimunjawa enthusiastically patted the sand on Amor Beach. In front of them, the footprints of 50 hawksbill sea turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) were visible on the shore before they finally returned to their natural habitat. This activity was an early conservation education effort and sea turtle preservation carried out by the Karimunjawa National Park Management in collaboration with the students of UGM Students Community Services Renjana Karimunjawa team. UGM Students Community Services and Youths of Druju Assembled ‘Lewis’ Landslide Detector to Anticipate Land Movement

Students of UGM Students Community Service together with youth communities of Druju, Johogunung Village, developed a landslide early warning system (LEWIS). This simple mechanical device was installed in a landslide-prone area on Saturday (January 24, 2026) as a community-based disaster mitigation effort. Unlike modern detection devices that rely on complex digital sensors, LEWIS works using the mechanical principles of levers and strings. The system will automatically disconnect and trigger a warning siren when ground movement occurs. Selengkapnya

The issue of waste that is not managed optimally has the potential to trigger various environmental problems, ranging from air pollution, clogged waterways leading to flooding, to an increased risk of public health problems. In response to this situation, Students of Universtas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Students Community Services presented an innovative solution by building three low-smoke waste incinerators in Siluk 1 Hamlet, Selopamioro Village, Imogiri, Bantul Regency. Through “Semarak Bintang Kecil”, Students of UGM Students Community Services hope that this activity will be a memorable experience for students and encourage schools to continue to provide activities that develop character, literacy, and creativity on an ongoing basis.

The atmosphere at Banyuurip Elementary School (SDN Banyuurip), Gunem District, Rembang Regency, was livelier than usual. Laughter, the sound of the call to pray, and colorful scribbles on paper colored the “Semarak Bintang Kecil” competition held by students of UGM Students Community Services. This program was designed as a space for expression and a forum for developing the potential of elementary school students through various competitions tailored to the age and abilities of the participants.
