UGM Students Community Services Students Help Improve Environment and Add Facilities to Turus Village Elementary School

UGM Students Community Services Students Help Improve Environment and Add Facilities to Turus Village Elementary School

The environmental improvement and facility addition activities at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Desa Turus, carried out by UGM Students Community Services (KKN) students, were held on Thursday (January 8, 2026). This activity was a form of student community service, particularly in supporting the improvement of the environment and educational facilities in Desa Turus.

In its implementation, UGM KKN students worked together with the school and the local community. The school garden cleaning activity included landscaping the surrounding area, clearing weeds and trash, and tidying up areas that had previously been neglected. In addition, the students also planted ornamental and green plants to create a more beautiful, cool, and comfortable school atmosphere for students and teaching staff.

Not only focus on environmental arrangement, UGM KKN students also contributed by adding facilities to support teaching and learning activities. These facilities included bookshelves for children, which are expected to increase students’ interest in reading from an early age, as well as the installation of class name boards to facilitate classroom identification and help organize the school to be neater and more informative.

This activity aims to create a school environment that is not only physically clean and beautiful, but also supports a more comfortable and conducive learning process. With the addition of a well-designed garden and other facilities, it is hoped that students will be able to learn in a more pleasant atmosphere and have better access to reading materials. This activity is a concrete step towards supporting Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4: Quality Education.

The entire series of activities was carried out in a spirit of mutual cooperation and togetherness, involving UGM KKN students, teachers, and the Turus Village Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The school welcomed and appreciated the initiative and concern of the UGM KKN students who had helped improve the quality of the environment and educational facilities at the school.

Through this activity, UGM KKN students not only carried out their work program but also played an active role in supporting village development through education and the environment. It is hoped that this activity will provide sustainable benefits and strengthen the relationship between students, the school, and the Turus Village community.
