Dr. dr. Rustamaji, M.Kes, the Director of Community Service, delivered his speech at the Reception Ceremony for the Return of Regional Coordinators (Korwil), Field Advisors (DPL), and Community Service Program (KKN-PPM) Students UGM, 1st Period 2023. He emphasized that KKN-PPM UGM is an academic activity organized by UGM as a form of learning for students to engage in community service under the guidance of field advisors.
The learning process is a crucial aspect of implementing KKN-PPM to understand the issues in society, find solutions, and implement the available options, adapted to the local conditions. It also involves monitoring these processes, which contribute to community empowerment.
Community empowerment goes beyond assisting the community; it provides an opportunity for students, as future leaders of the nation, to apply their knowledge and skills in KKN-PPM activities. It is not just the individual efforts of each student, but also collaborative group work. The process of collective learning and applying knowledge for the benefit of the community is invaluable. “We hope that this experience becomes a valuable one, and you can pass on the spirit to your fellow students and the community to do something meaningful,” he explained.
In this KKN-PPM period, there are locations in two districts of Magelang Regency with a thematic focus on preventing and addressing stunting. It serves as a research pilot project implemented by the Faculty of Agriculture. “We express our gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture or their representative, as well as the field advisors who have prepared the students to implement the findings of stunting intervention research through KKN activities.”
In conclusion, the Director of Community Service encouraged immediate communication of any concerns or shortcomings during the KKN-PPM activities to facilitate future implementations. He expressed gratitude to all parties for their hard work and dedication to the KKN-PPM program. “Thus, on this occasion, we officially welcome back all KKN-PPM students and field advisors from the 12 faculties and 1 school to resume their academic activities on campus,” he concluded.
