SEAMEO Workshop program in the theme “Integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Teacher Education in South-East Asia” is part of the UNESCO program in Southeast Asia that was held in Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. This ESD Workshop was attended by representatives of RCE Yogyakarta and partners, such as Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta State Islamic University, and Yogyakarta State University. Universitas Gadjah Mada as the RCE Yogyakarta coordinator has presented ESD implemented programs in the class. On this occasion, UGM also became a facilitator for the teachers and lecturers at Holiday Inn Sukhumvit in Bangkok, Thailand on April 24-26, 2018.

Partnerships for Society Impact 2018 (University of Malaya 13-15 November 2018). Universitas Gadjah Mada represented by Prof. Ir. Irfan D. Prijambada., M.Eng., Ph.D. as Director of Community Service at the event role as a facilitator and speaker who delivered the theme: Partnership between campus and community. Universitas Gadjah Mada has been known as a campus or university that is very concerned with community services programs. That is why at the IAU 2018 program in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia, UGM was entrusted to deliver and present a community empowerment program to improve the welfare of the community with a multi-disciplinary approach. The meeting was attended by more than 150 universities around the world who are members of an international university network
The 3rd International ESD Forum, Shizouka University 22-23 November 2018, “ESD for SDGs and Teacher Education: Constructing Professional Learning Communities for SDGs” was attended by the ESD Forum network from 3 countries which are Japan, Indonesia and Thailand consisting of schools and colleges. The universities attending were Shizouka University, Mie University, Tokyo University, Gadjah Mada University, Indonesian University of Education, Srinakharinwirot University. Also attended by the Japanese society of ESD and Krida Nusantara Integrated Kindergarten. The Universitas Gadjah Mada representatives were Prof. Dr. Ir. Cahyono Agus Dwi Koranto, M.Agr.Sc., Dr. Puji Astuti, M.Sc., Apt., Lisna Hidayati, S.Si., M.Biotech. The first day started with a visit to the UNESCO associated school Iwamatsu-us primary school, learning and benchmarking the implementation of ESD in the school. The second day was the ESD Forum consisting of keynote addresses, oral and poster presentations. The ICCEESD international workshop was attended by more than 150 participants from Indonesia, Singapore, Germany, France, Thailand, Australia, and Malaysia. This conference emphasized the results of community service that will be developed and implemented in the community. The results of research conducted in the form of community service were presented in this activity. Participants consisted of lecturers, academics, professionals, and NGOs. The presentation in this international conference was published in proceedings, which can be used as one of the outputs. The ICCEESD is not only a conference activity but also accompanies best practice visits to several UGM target locations in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Various community service schemes are embodied in the UGM such as the Built Village program, UGM Appropriate Technology (TTG0, and so on. UGM also has the Indonesian Journal of Community Engagement which is a scientific multidisciplinary journal published by Directorate of Community Services Universitas Gadjah Mada. It is on the national level that covers a lot of common problems or issues related to community services. The aim of this journal publication is to disseminate the conceptual thoughts or ideas and research results that have been achieved in the area of community services.
Online meeting was held on November 7, 2018. This activity was attended by Dr. Munirah (RCE Penang, USM, Malaysia), Nanung Agus Fitriyanto., Ph.D. (RCE Yogyakarta, UGM), Dr. Abdesh (India), Dr. Kiyono, and representatives from UNU IAS Japan. This online meeting has discussed about the collaboration which will be carried out by RCE to enhance the program implementation in order to support and to achieve SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals), UGM as an experienced campus in terms of community service and empowerment, have been asked to be a motivator and provide best practices program of community engagement that have contributed to improve community capacity building. This meeting also discussed the follow up of the Asia Pacific RCE Meeting in Sydney, and the 11th Global RCE Conference plan in Cebu Philippines, 7-9 December 2018. The meeting also conveyed that the Youth Program for RCE Youth could be further optimized in 2019
The RCE Asia Pacific Meeting at Great Western Sydney University Australia, represented by Nanung Agus Fitriyanto., S.Pt., M.Sc., Ph.D., on 25-27 September 2018, was a meeting coordinated by RCE Greater Western Sydney and The United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). In this meeting, Universitas Gadjah Mada became a facilitator in Focus Group Discussion with the theme of community engagement, the presentation of the community empowerment program that has been implemented has made UGM a university that is organized for Student Community Services – Community Empowerment Learning (SCS-CEL) programs.
The RCE Youth Asia Pacific online conference was held on September 24, 2018. The online conference was attended by RCE Yogyakarta (UGM), RCE Tongyeong (South Korea), RCE Penang (USM), and RCE Okayama (Japan). The Universitas Gadjah Mada representatives were Emmy Yuniarti ST., M.Eng, Azri Faisal Nabhan., SS, MM, and Putri Kintan Pratiwi., ST. Together with RCE Great Western Sydney Australia, Universitas Gadjah Mada initiated this conference meeting. On this occasion, RCE Yogyakarta delivered a community service program that has been carried out recently, such as waste management programs, disaster-resilient villages, and youth programs.
The main objective of the General Echo Workshop is to get invited participants to understand the importance of integrating the concept of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into the academic curriculum and community services, due to they have recognized as influencers in their area of expertise. Universitas Gadjah Mada was visited by the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan (NFUAJ) on 27-30 March 2018. This visit was a follow-up of the NFUAJ representative meeting in 2017 in conjunction with summer school at UGM. This visit consisted of 17 high school students from Japan. As a fasilitator in community empowerment implementation in schools and communities, Universitas Gadjah Mada has contributed to economic improvement, utilization of appropriate technology to enhance product quality and quantity.

RCE is also committed to the acceleration and dissemination of ESD-based education (Sustainable Education) in the context of the realization of the Global Action Program (GAP) which contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
