The Consolidation of DIY Poverty Alleviation is aimed at consolidating and connecting the student community service activities of each university to better contribute to poverty and stunting reduction in the DIY region. This event is a follow-up to the results of a forum involving six universities and previous meetings organized by the DIY Regional Development Planning Agency (BAPPEDA) regarding poverty reduction in DIY through student community service. The event took place in Multimedia Room 2, UGM Central Building. The Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos.,M.Si represented the UGM Rector in opening the event (4/4) attended by the leaders of the LPM/LPPM and the KKN Management Chairman from universities in Yogyakarta, as well as representatives from the local government (PEMDA). Dr. Ari Sujito stated that “there are many fragmented programs that have been implemented in villages for poverty reduction, but consolidation is needed to make the work more meaningful.”
In this forum, UGM agreed with the representatives of other universities and five representatives of the local government in DIY to follow up by forming a team, and UGM will create a roadmap that will be utilized together. Universities, local governments, and even village-level institutions have a strategic role in working together in a consolidated and cohesive manner to solve existing problems. Therefore, taking a joint step in this consolidation is the initial step towards a bigger, longer, and more structured solution to alleviate poverty in the Yogyakarta region.
