Yuam Roasted Coffee is a Commanditaire Vennootschap (CV) established by Yuri Dulloh in Kebumen. Since its establishment on October 14, 2019, the focus of its business is Robusta, Arabica, and jackfruit/liberica roasted coffee. The primary raw materials of its coffee are the selected coffee beans from the surrounding farms as well as coffee from partner farmers in Central Java. As a former forestry extension worker in Central Java, Yuri Dulloh has no trouble obtaining premium quality coffee beans from the farmers he has worked with.
The main suppliers of the used coffee beans come from coffee farmers in Tlogosari Village, Ayah District, Wonodadi Village, Buayan District, Wadasmalang Village, Alian District, Giritirto Village, Karangsambung District, Kenten Village, Sempor District, Community Forest Farmers of Giyanti, Rowokele, Sendang Dalem Districts, as well as coffee farmers in Purworejo, Magelang, Kemuning, Wonosobo, and Temanggung.
This private business has been registered and has a Business Permit Number (NIB), a Home Industry Food (PIRT) certificate, Halal certificate from LPPOM MUI, and a domestic distribution permit from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM). This SME’s coffee product has been widely accepted by the market and has now been curated for markets in Japan and the United States. Yuam Roasted Coffee has also been promoted in Nigeria and Russia by the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Lagos, the Indonesian Embassy in Abuja, and the Indonesian Embassy in Russia. It joined the Directorate of Community Service (DOCS) UGM in 2021 and DOCS has since provided marketing and digital literacy assistance.
The Yuam Roasted Coffee’s main problem is the increasing demand that necessitates an increase in production volume, as well as the application of HACCP and SNI certifications in accordance with export requirements. Furthermore, prospective exporters from the United States will review their production sites and the export requirements for the American market in September 2022.
To meet these requirements, Yuri Dulloh as the Yuam Roasted Coffee,’s owner proposed to DOCS UGM for support in assisting and facilitating the application of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Indonesian National Standard (SNI) certifications. In light of this, DPKM UGM worked with the National Standardization Agency (BSN) in Jakarta to conduct a gap analysis to the Yuam Roasted Coffee regarding the food safety standards fulfillment. As a result, Nur Hidayati, S.Si., M.Sc., the Standardization Analyst of Associate Expert as Coordinator of Substance Group for Facilitation of Business Actors and Nandaroose Rucky Prasetyaning Galih, S.TP. as the First Expert Standardization Analyst of the BSN team suggested a production site change to be something more representative of the existing production space conditions, as well as an adaptation to the production process line that flows in the same direction as the food safety standards requirements.
During the visit, BSN raised awareness about the importance of implementing food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) principles as the foundation for implementing and certifying HACCP. Yuri Dulloh, on the other hand, believes that his production site will become a Coffee Tourism Village in Kebumen. It is hoped that by offering batik packages, coffee tours, and other activities, many tourists will be interested in visiting this area.
Yuam Roasted Coffee makes a unique coffee by brewing it with specially picked bamboo. The function of bamboo drip is to reduce caffeine levels or acidity levels in coffee, as well as to create a unique, soft, and natural taste. It has the ability to absorb toxins and lower glucose levels in coffee. As the owner of Yuam Roasted Coffee, Yuri Dulloh also empowers coffee farmers in Kebumen.
Given the near-term goal of HACCP certification, BSN requests Yuam Roasted Coffee’s commitment to make improvements on the production site and prepare the HACCP manual setup. The HACCP certification is the first step for Yuam Roasted Coffee, which has experienced a business downturn as a result of the Covid 19 pandemic. Yuri Dulloh’s creativity and innovation are expected to improve the welfare of employees, farmers, and surrounding residents, while also improving community welfare.(wdd/22)
