RCE Yogyakarta is one of 174 RCE in the world and has been recognized member of RCE Global which coordinated by United Nations University-Institute of Advances Science (UNU-IAS) Japan. It is an individual/ organization / institution networking work in the field of formal, informal or non-formal education, deliver Education for Sustainable Development to local and regional communities, especially in the Yogyakarta and surrounding areas.

RCE is globally committed to generating, enhancing and mainstreaming ESD by implementing the Global Action Program (GAP) on ESD with 5 main priorities:

1.       Advancing policy

2.       Transforming learning environments

3.       Building capacity in education

4.       Empowering youth

5.       Accelerating sustainable solutions at the local level

At all levels of scommunity, RCE plays an important role in implementing this goal using local knowledge and global networks.

The Yogyakarta RCE Secretariat is located at Universitas Gadjah Mada, collaborating with institutions of higher education, basic education, local government, and non-governmental organizations.

The purpose of RCE Yogyakarta

1.         Providing education both formal, informal and informal in the field of Education for Sustainable Development

2.         Providing information, awareness, learning, action and mass / community mobilization, and moving the nation towards life and more sustainable future development (more sustainably developed)
